Annoying Calls from A Learning Institution
About a year ago, I contacted a learning institution in Bandung to ask about a class that I wished to attend. As I expected, they gave me everything that I need to know (and also every kind of promotion that they had). At the end of the conversation, they asked me my phone number. Although I was hesitated, I gave them the number.
Lately, I realized that my hesitation came true. At least once a month, I kept receiving calls from the learning institution asking me whether I want to enroll their upcoming class or not. “No, thanks”, I said once, twice, the third times and so on and so forth. No matter what reason I gave them, they kept calling me to ask the particular question. Although they only asked about the particular class that I asked them before, I still think that they were way too aggressive.
Driven by the boredom for their calls, I told them that I’m not in Bandung anymore. I had moved to another city, and there is too little chance that I would come back to Bandung. At that time, I was called by a woman. Two or three days later, I received the same call, but from a different person. My answer handn’t changed.
I’ve been wondering, if they have a database about future enrollers (phone numbers and class that one wished to enroll), why don’t they have a data that tells them about “answers record”? If they have that kind of database, I think they won’t have to bother calling everyone repetitively. Won’t that save them some money from the reduced calls? Or maybe, they do have the database, but they have some kind of “aggression standard” in their place so that the most aggressive callers will be given a reward? I know that they need to keep people coming, but isn’t there any better way to do that? That’s really annoying.
